Kevin's Alpha (A Wizard's Touch, #2)

Kevin's Alpha (A Wizard's Touch, #2) - Amber Kell The good:
It's better written than the first one, although the climax is not at all.
I love the world she's built. It's a lot like the [b:Reclamation|12997237|Reclamation (Dominion, #2)|Lissa Kasey|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1328323098s/12997237.jpg|17913983] series which is one of my favorites, but the meat of it just isn't there. I think Kell has a lot of talent but she churns so many out so fast that the quality slips.

The bad:
In justifying why he's keeping his mate safe, one character says, "Because if anything happened to , my life wouldn't be worth anything." That's kind of a selfish way of looking at it.
Climax at the end is very weak. (major spoiler)Thomas should have been more freaked out and on edge. Jay should have been very weak since his magic was being sucked out of him. Afterwards the characters think about the danger they'd been in. When? There was no suspense or peril or any danger not really easily taken care of.
Villain does some major info dumping at the end ala comic books complete with "mad laughter."

The ugly:
The flecks of gold in a character's eyes change depending on mood. This does NOT happen.
POV changes mid-scene.
