This is a beautiful, lyrical book of poetry and prose by a man who I cared for and admired dearly. Like so many with artistic bent, my friend suffered from severe clinical depression and committed suicide a few years ago. He had many friends and was greatly loved because he was so loving himself and so full of life. Alas, he didn't know this and his writing is full of the loneliness and alienation he felt every day of his life. I believe this work is good enough to stand on its own, but it also has an ethereal haunting quality lent to it because of his death. I believe it particularly speaks to those marginalized by nature of their homosexuality or depression. I highly recommend this book and his second book Wind of Knives.
